New Delhi: A Pakistani ISI agent was arrested in Meerut on Sunday, according to India Today’s report. Satyendra Siwal, who served as an India Based Security Assistant (IBSA), was stationed at the Indian embassy in Moscow since 2021.
As per an official statement, the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Uttar Pradesh received intelligence from its sources regarding a spy working at the Indian Embassy in Moscow. Acting on this information, the UP ATS questioned Siwal, who provided unsatisfactory responses. Subsequently, he confessed to espionage and was apprehended in Meerut.
In the course of the interrogation, Siwal admitted to enticing Indian government officials with financial incentives to gather information about the Indian Army and its daily operations. He is also charged with divulging vital and confidential details about the Indian Embassy, Ministry of Defence, and External Affairs to ISI handlers.
