Putting the video keyframes through Google Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced various media reports featuring scenes related to this video. According to a report dated November 11, 2022, camera footage released by the Baltimore Police (Maryland, US) depicted Officer Zachary Rutherford shooting ‘No Shoot Zone’ community activist Tyree Moorehead, who was on top of a woman and assaulting her. A large knife was visible nearby. Officer Rutherford and his partner Michael Hazel responded to the scene. Baltimore Police Commissioner Brian Nadeau, overseeing the internal investigation, stated that the officers were called to a situation where a man held a knife to a woman’s neck. Nadeau further mentioned that the woman on the ground with Moorehead claimed no prior relationship with him and was going to the grocery store.
The video, released by the police on November 8, 2022, describes: “Baltimore police released a body-worn camera video Tuesday from the officer who shot and killed a man who was threatening a woman with a knife Sunday. The video shows the officer, identified as Zachary Rutherford, pulling up to the scene in West Baltimore, where he sees Tyree Moorehead on top of a woman and holding a large butcher knife at her head. Rutherford screams “Drop the knife” but Moorehead continues to straddle the woman on the pavement. Rutherford then fires his weapon multiple times at close range, the video shows. The report indicated that Moorehead was shot after being found armed with a knife and assaulting a woman. Notably, Moorehead was known for spray-painting ‘no shoot zones’ at shooting sites across the city of Baltimore.
