Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team traced a Facebook post on an unverified profile, dated January 25, 2021. The video matches with the viral clip, suggesting that it is from the 2021 farmers’ protest in the national capital.
Checking further, we spotted a news article in The New Indian Express, dated January 7, 2021. The toll booth image in the article matches with one of the viral clips, saying that the farmers’ tractor march at the western peripheral highway.
Reuters, too, covered the farmers’ march to the Red Fort on Republic Day in 2021, and the image used in the report is identical with one of the viral images.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show farmers on their way towards Delhi amidst the ongoing protest, is MISLEADING.
