Fact Check: Old Image Of AC Fitted Behind A Trolley Falsely Shared As From Recent Farmers’ Protest

Date:

Amid the ongoing Farmers’ protest, an image is widely circulated on social media showing a window AC installed behind a trolley. The post claims this is a recent picture from the farmers’ movement.

The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “असली दिहाडी मजदूर खेत में ।
नकली पिकनिक पर”
(English translation: Real daily-wage labourers in the fields. On a fake picnic)

Here’s the link to the above post. Here, here, here

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.

Through a simple Reverse Image Search, the NM team spotted a news article in Navbharat Times, dated March 13, 2021, with a headline: “Kisan Andolan: AC in trolleys, permanent houses on the roads…this is how the preparations for the farmers’ movement are going on.”

We also found this image in several Facebook posts carrying the same viral image in March 2021.

Though, we could not ascertain the exact time and location of the viral image, it is evident from the above information that the image is old and unrelated to the ongoing farmers’ protest.
