A video has surfaced on Internet showing few men setting the Indian flag on fire during a protest, linking it to the ongoing farmers’ protest. Farmers, predominantly from Punjab, along with counterparts from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, led by over 200 unions, commenced their Delhi Chalo march on February 13, 2024. The Delhi Police have reportedly taken extensive measures to prevent the march from entering Delhi at the Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders.
The caption with the video reads: Tirange ko jalane wale kabhi Kisan nahin ho sakte hai❤️🇮🇳🤬 (English translation: Those who set the tricolour on fire can never be farmers.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the above video, and found it to be misleading as the video has no connection with the farmers’ protest.
On closely observing the video frame-by-frame, we noticed cropped captions and words such as ‘Vancouver City’ and ‘Canada’.
Putting the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team found the extended version of the same video on the official YouTube channel of Canada-based Global News, dated September 2023.
As per the title and description, the video in question is from the protests by Sikhs outside the Indian consulate in Vancouver, Canada, after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused New Delhi of involvement in the murder of a Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Hence, with the above findings, it can be asserted that the video in question is OLD and NOT from the ongoing farmers’ stir.
