Hyderabad: Tragedy struck in Hyderabad last week as a 28-year-old man, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam, lost his life during a surgical procedure aimed at enhancing his smile ahead of his wedding. According to the police, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam passed away while undergoing a ‘smile designing’ procedure at the FMS International Dental Clinic located in Hyderabad’s Jubilee Hills on February 16.
Following the tragedy, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam’s body underwent autopsy procedures, and a case of negligence was filed against the clinic based on the complaint lodged by his family. The deceased, who had recently become engaged and was set to marry next month, leaves behind grieving family and friends.
The victim’s father, Ramulu Vinjam, alleged that his son died due to an overdose of anaesthesia administered during the surgery. Recounting the events, Ramulu Vinjam stated that the clinic staff contacted him after his son fainted during the procedure and requested his immediate presence. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Laxmi Narayana Vinjam was declared dead upon arrival.
Ramulu Vinjam further revealed that his son had not informed the family about the surgery, and he had no known health issues prior to the incident. Holding the doctors accountable for the tragic outcome, Mr. Vinjam expressed his grief and demanded answers regarding the circumstances surrounding his son’s untimely demise.
Providing details of the sequence of events, K Venkateshwar Reddy, Station House Officer of Jubilee Hills, that Laxmi Narayana Vinjam arrived at the clinic around 2:30 pm on February 16. The surgical procedure commenced at approximately 4:30 pm and lasted for nearly two hours. Concerns arose when the clinic contacted Laxmi Narayana Vinjam’s father around 7:00 pm, prompting immediate transportation to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, as per an NDTV report.
