As India is all set to go for general elections in a few months, a post has surfaced on social media with a circular claiming that it’s the schedule of the Lok Sabha polls.
The circular in question informs that the LS election will take place in seven phases from April 11 to May 19.

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be false.
Firstly, there was no credible report about the schedule for the upcoming LS polls. Even scanning through the official website and social media handles of the Election Commission of India (ECI), the NM team could not find any communication about the dates of the 2024 general elections.
Upon closely analysing the polling schedule in the viral post, however, we noticed that the phase-wise dates of the polling are identical to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
On closely analysing the constituencies mentioned in the viral circular, we noticed these constituencies were from Bihar.
Going through the notification by Bihar’s chief electoral officer for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, we discovered that the constituency-wise schedule for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls matched with the viral circular.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the circular in question, in fact, shows the 2019 Lok Sabha election, NOT the polling dates of the upcoming 2024 general election.
