‘Captain Marvel’ Actor Kenneth Mitchell Dies At 49

Los Angeles: Canadian actor Kenneth Mitchell, known for roles in Star Trek: Discovery and Marvel’s Captain Marvel, died at the age of 49 on Saturday, February 24.

The news of his death was shared by his family on his social media accounts.

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son, and dear friend,” read the statement.

Mitchell was diagnosed with the neurological disorder amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, which causes paralysis and death, more than five years ago.

Mitchell played Klingons Kol, Kol-Sha, and Tenavik, along with the character Aurellio, in Star Trek: Discovery. He also gave voices for many other characters in an episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks.

In Captain Marvel, he played the superhero Carol Danvers’ father. He was also known for his performances as Eric Green in the show Jericho, Joshua Dodd in Nancy Drew, a hockey player in the movie Miracle, and he appeared in various other films and TV series.

Mitchell lived in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Susan May Pratt, and their children. He was born on November 25, 1974, in Toronto to parents Diane and David Mitchell.
