Fact Check: Viral Clip, Claiming Kamal Nath Joins BJP, Is From 2023 And Fake

Date:

Speculations about Congress leader Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath joining BJP appear to have subsided for the time being. However, some social media users claim that Kamal Nath has already joined BJP. Many videos allege that after joining BJP, Kamal Nath went to meet Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री कमलनाथ ने की बीजेपी ज्वाइन बीजेपी ज्वाइन करते ही मोहन यादव से मिलने पहुंचे” (English translation: Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath joined BJP, and he reached out to meet Mohan Yadav.)

Here’s the link to the above post

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

With a keyword search on Google, our team found several news reports carrying the same video, dated December 12, 2023, with a headline: “Former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath meets Madhya Pradesh CM-designate Mohan Yadav”.

The official Twitter handle of Money Control, dated December 12, 2023, also carries the same video with a description, given below.

In fact, Mohan Yadav himself has shared images of his meeting with Kamal Nath on his official Twitter handle.

Thus, it is confirmed that the viral video is from 2023, and NOT related to the rumours that Kamal Nath has joined BJP.
