NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Google Keyword Search about Jurel’s batting and the Indian team’s response, the NM team identified a tweet by Jurel himself on his official X handle. Here we see both Rohit and Rahul Dravid hugging him when he came back to the pavilion after taking India to victory in the second innings. We don’t see Rohit saluting him in the picture.
Searching further, we came across a news article in Sportskeeda. Here too, we see Rohit and Dravid hugging Jurel after India won the match.
Replaying the 4th day of the 4th Test match on Jio Cinema, we found Rohit hugging Jurel before moving on to shake hands with England captain Ben Stokes.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Rohit Sharma saluted Dhruv Jurel for his batting after winning the Test match, is edited.
