Searching for the video of PM Modi meeting the Indian cricket team, our team found the full video on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s official YouTube channel, dated November 21, 2023, with a title: PM Modi comforts Indian Cricket G.O.A.T.s after the World Cup Final | #TeamIndia 🇮🇳
In the full video, at the 01:20 minute mark, Iyer can be seen shaking hands with the PM. However, the viral video circulating online does not present the complete context of the interaction.
Although the BCCI has not yet provided specific reasons for Iyer’s removal, it is believed that the board was not pleased with certain senior players not participating in domestic cricket during periods when they were not representing the national team. This dissatisfaction purportedly led to Iyer’s exclusion from the contract.
According to the BCCI statement, “The BCCI has recommended that all athletes give precedence to participating in domestic cricket during periods when they are not representing the national team.”
