PM Modi Inaugurates Gurugram Section Of Dwarka Expressway

Date:

Gurugram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the long-awaited 19-kilometre elevated section of the Dwarka Expressway on Monday. It’s a major relief for the Delhi-Gurugram commuters as the travel time between Dwarka and Gurugram is reduced to just 20 minutes.

The Dwarka expressway is a 28.5-km road, of which the 19-km Gurgaon section has been opened. The entire road is expected to be operational later this year.

Ahead of inaugurating the Gurugram section of the Dwarka Expressway PM Modi expressed the significance of enhancing connectivity across India. Scheduled around noon, the ceremony will mark the dedication of numerous National Highways, scattered across various states, to the nation, or the initiation of their construction.

Conceived in 2006 by the Haryana government, the Dwarka Expressway faced many challenges, including land acquisition issues and legal disputes. The project was delayed for over a decade. In2016, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) intervened to initiate the process.
