President Biden as US President got an automatic re-election nomination whereas the rivals of Mr Trump backed out of the race paving the way for him to secure the nomination for the Republican Presidential candidate. They will face each other in the 2024 US elections.

The process to choose Presidential Candidates
1) In the US to choose a Presidential nominee, an indirect or primary election is held where the voters decide the number of Delegates each party receives and these delegates in turn select the nominee who would represent the party in the Presidential race.

2) In the primaries, the candidates need to secure a majority of the votes of the delegates in turn to select the party’s presidential nominee. To win the Presidential nomination the candidates need to secure a majority of the delegate’s votes to win the party’s presidential nomination.

Challenges in front of the two candidates

He has been on and off the courts in between his presidential campaigns. Mr Trump also faces 91 felony counts on four indictments which also includes the indictment to overturn the 2020 election results. He is also the only US President who has been impeached twice.

2) President Biden’s return to the White House has been obstructed by many voters saying that his age is not in favour for him to serve another four years. The current crisis at the US-Mexico border is also a cause of concern for the current President and the regular coming in of the migrants has affected the system of the country. Also, the recent murder of a Georgia nursing student Laken Riley by an illegal immigrant has become a matter of debate between the two parties.

3) US President Joe Biden also hit out at his Republican Rival Trump at the State of the Union address saying that the former president is a threat to democracy and said that he will not bow down and vowed to reinstate Roe vs Wade to stop the Republicans push to restrict abortion rights.
