A video has gone viral alleging Congress Candidate K Muralidharan — son of former chief minister late K Karunakaran — campaigning in Thrissur with a Pakistan Flag.
The Facebook post reads: “Disturbing sight as Indian National Congress candidate K. Muraleedharan campaigns in Thrissur without a single Indian flag in sight. This isn’t Pakistan! Where is the respect for our national symbol? #ShameOnCongress #BharatJodo Rahul Gandhi“.

Upon careful analysis of the video, we noticed a watermark in Malayalam reading ‘Kondotty Pachapada’. But the Kondotty Pachapada’s profile on Facebook carries a video shared on April 19, 2019. According to its Malayalam description, “Kolarajan to go to jail and Muralidharan to the parliament from Vadakara. Youth League’s children in full energy during K Muralidharan’s campaign rally.” The term ‘Kolarajan’ was employed to denote P Jayarajan, who was Muralidharan’s opponent in the election.
Searching further, we discovered a similar post shared by a profile, named MK Sawad, dated April 19, 2019, featuring an identical caption to that of Kondotty Pachapada’s page.
In the video, individuals can be observed waving green flags, which some social media users suggested to be the national flag of Pakistan. However, upon closer inspection, it becomes apparent that the flag in the video lacks the characteristic white stripe of Pakistan’s national flag. Instead, it represents the political party Indian Union Muslim League, which is allied with the Congress party in Kerala.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that an image from 2019, depicting Muralidharan’s candidacy for the Lok Sabha from Vadakara, has gone viral with false narratives.
