Emergency services are currently conducting search operations for at least seven individuals following the collapse of a Baltimore bridge struck by a container ship. This incident, described as a “developing mass casualty event”, occurred when a large vessel collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge around 1:30 a.m., resulting in a fire and causing vehicles to plunge into the Patapsco River. Authorities have characterised the situation as a “dire emergency”.
In the midst of this, a video has emerged on social media depicting vehicles traversing a bridge at night, followed by an explosion on the bridge, purportedly linked to the Baltimore Bridge collapse.

After running the viral video keyframes through the Google Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced a similar video on BBC website, dated October 09, 2022, with a headline: “Crimea bridge: Video shows moment of huge explosion.” The bridge has faced two attacks in the last two years, once in October 2022 and again in July 2023. Responsibility for both strikes has been claimed by Kyiv. It confirms that the video is not related to the recent Baltimore bridge collapse.
We also found the same clip posted by The Times of Israel, dated October 08, 2022, with a headline: “Russia says truck bomb caused Crimea bridge explosion; limited traffic resumes.”
Multiple media outlets, including Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, reported the incident in 2022 of the Russian-built bridge. Hence, we can conclusively say that the 2022 video has been falsely linked to the recent Baltimore Bridge collapse.
