Date:

A picture claiming two fans of Taylor Swift climbed the roof of a stadium in Singapore to attend her concert is doing the rounds on social media.

2 Taylor Swift fans who didn’t buy a ticket, went up to the roof just to watch the concert.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team found a news article, dated January 18, 2022, on a Mexican news site — Periódico AM. According to the article, fans of Santa Fe Klan — a Mexican rapper — tried to access the Velaria de la Feria concert hall in Leon, Mexico, to watch his show even when they did not have a ticket for the same.

We can see the same two people as the ones in the viral picture. But here we see them climbing scaffolding, not a stadium roof.

Searching further, we came across another news article on Reporte Indigo as well. Here we get to know that things got out of control and people did anything they could to get a place to attend the concert.

Other Mexican media houses like Milenio and Excelsior reported about the event as well. This confirms that the picture of these people climbing is edited. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming two fans of Taylor Swift climbed the roof of a stadium in Singapore to attend her concert, is false.
