The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 28 produced Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before a Delhi court as his custodial remand ended. The court extended his remand till April 1 in the alleged excise policy scam.
Against the backdrop, a video claiming to show a protest to release Kejriwal has gone viral on social media. In the video, the police and the protesters are seen picking up a man and pushing him back and forth.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption, “അഴിമതിക്കാരൻ കേജരിവാളിനെ ഉടൻതന്നെ മോചിപ്പിക്കണം എന്നാവശ്യപ്പെട്ടുകൊണ്ട് സമരത്തിന് പോയ സുഡാപ്പികളിൽ ഒരുവൻ പറന്നു നടന്ന് സമരം ചെയ്യുന്ന മനോഹര കാഴ്ച്ച” (English version: See below.)

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
Running the Viral video keyframes through the Reverse Image Search, the NM team came to know that this video has been circulating on social media and YouTube since 2017. There is no information about the location or the nature of the protest in the video. However, the comments on the viral post reveal that the clip was from Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. Congress flags can also be seen in the video.
Another video uploaded on the India Today Facebook page carries a caption, saying that the Congress protest in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, turns violent.
In June 2017, farmers in Madhya Pradesh staged a strike demanding the write-off of agricultural debts. Congress workers protested in support of this cause. Footage of Ajay Singh, popularly known as Congress leader Rahul Bhaiya, slapping an activist who pelted stones at the police during the protest was also released. In this regard, a viral video shared on ANI News’ YouTube channel also includes footage from another angle of protesters being picked up and thrown away by the police, as seen in the viral video.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video is old and unrelated to Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal’s arrest.
