Date:

Amidst the ongoing protests against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, a video is going viral on social media claiming to show Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann being dragged by Delhi Police.

The post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be misleading.

We extracted the keyframes of the video and ran them through Reverse Image Search. The search led us to the same video that was uploaded by The Savera Times on March 22, 2024. The title of the video read, “Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains detained after scuffle with Police at ITO.”

We also found that a similar video was uploaded by Times Now, with the title, “Delhi Police Detains Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains During Protests #shorts.”

According to a report by India Today, ‘Punjab Minister Harjot Singh Bains was detained outside Patel Nagar Metro station. The Delhi police made announcements outside the Patel Chowk Metro station addressing the AAP protestors. They informed that Section 144 had been imposed, no permission had been granted for protests, and the area needed to be cleared.

Thus, from the above fact check, it is clear that the man in the video is not Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the video is misleading.
