Lok Sabha Polls: BJP Releases Eighth List Of Candidates; Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Preneet Kaur Among Key Names

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, released its eighth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha Elections, covering Punjab, Odisha, and West Bengal. In Punjab, the BJP has named Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the former Indian envoy to the United States, as its candidate from Amritsar.

Meanwhile, Preneet Kaur, the wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and a former Congress MP, is set to contest from Patiala.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Bollywood actor Sunny Deol ticket has been cancelled from the Gurdaspur seat and has been given to Dinesh Singh “Babbu”.
  • Sushil Kumar Rinku will contest from Jalandhar, Ravneet Singh Bittu will contest from Ludhiana, and Hans Raj Hans from Faridkot.
  • In Odisha, Rabindra Narayan Behera has been fielded from Jajpur seat, Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi from Kandhamal and Bhartruhari Mahtab from Cuttack.
  • In West Bengal, the BJP has announced the candidature of former IPS officer Debashish Dhar from Birbhum and Pranat Tudu from Jhargram.
  • Earlier, the BJP announced the Election Manifesto Committee for the 2024 General Election. BJP president JP Nadda announced the 27-member committee which will be headed by defence minister Rajnath Singh.
