IPL 2024: Kishan, Yadav Propel Mumbai Indians To Seven-Wicket Victory Against RCB

Date:

Mumbai: In a spectacular display of dominance, Mumbai Indians (MI) secured a resounding victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Chasing a formidable target of 197 runs, MI accomplished the task with remarkable ease, reaching the target in just 15.3 overs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

The duo of Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav played sensational innings, both scoring breathtaking fifties. Kishan’s aggressive start in the powerplay set the tone for MI’s chase, while Yadav’s explosive batting saw him achieve his fastest fifty in the IPL, reaching the milestone off just 17 balls.

Earlier, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik’s quick half-centuries, supported by Faf Du Plessis’ half-century, powered the RCB to a total of 196 runs, losing eight wickets against MI.

Karthik played an explosive innings, scoring 53 runs off just 23 balls, while Patidar also notched a quick 50 off just 26 balls. RCB’s skipper also played a crucial inning, scoring 61 runs off 40 balls to take RCB to a competitive total.

Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was sensational with his bowling, bagging a five-wicket haul by giving away only 21 runs in four overs. Gerald Coetzee, Akash Madhwal, and Shreyas Gopal also contributed with one wicket each.

After winning the toss MI captain Hardik Pandya said, “We will bowl first. It looks like a similar track, but it might get better to bat on under lights. There was a bit of dew as well, so chasing could be a better option. The mood before and after the win was different, we’ll need to start well, put the pressure and then take the game forward. We got the highest score without anyone getting to 50, that gives you plenty of confidence. Bowling well in the powerplay was crucial. One change – Shreyas Gopal comes in place of PC”
