Fact Check: 2019 Video From PM Modi’s Rally Resurfaces As Recent From Rajasthan’s Barmer

In the midst of high-octane political campaigning across the nation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, a video of a public rally is being widely shared on social media, in which ‘Modi Modi’ chants can be heard. It is being claimed that the video is from PM Modi’s recent rally in Rajasthan’s Barmer.

(English Translation: This is the tsunami after provoking the Rajputs. This is the tsunami of Barmer, Rajasthan. No matter how hard you try, PM Modi will be at the forefront.)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question and found it to be false.

Extracting the video keyframes using the InVid tool and putting them through Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced the same video in an X-post, dated April 3, 2019, by the official handle (@narendramodi_in) of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal website, narendramodi.com.

The tweet states that the video was from PM Modi’s rally in Kolkata.

Upon a thorough analysis of both videos, it becomes evident that they are indeed identical.

Searching further, we found some reports suggesting that PM Modi held a rally in Kolkata on April 3, 2019. These reports can be seen here and here. The full video of PM Modi’s 2019 rally in Kolkata can be seen here on the official YouTube channel of the BJP.

It is to be noted that PM Modi visited Rajasthan’s Barmer on April 12, 2024, and addressed a public rally while he was campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The full video can be seen here.

So, it can be concluded that the video in question is from PM Modi’s 2019 rally in Kolkata, which has resurfaced with misleading claims.
