FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video in question, and found it to be false.

With a keyword search on Google — “Rajdeep Sardesai Karnataka interview bus — the NM team discovered a video shared by India Today on its official X platform. This longer version, posted on April 16, 2024, presents additional responses supporting the Congress party, which were omitted from the viral clip.

In the extended footage, the first woman interviewed expresses satisfaction with the complimentary bus ride. Subsequently, another woman declares her intention to vote for Siddaramaiah, citing benefits such as cash benefits, complimentary bus rides, and reduced electricity bills provided by his administration. This prompts agreement from those around her, indicating support for Siddaramaiah’s governance. At the 2:00 timestamp, the viral video begins, showcasing the subsequent woman and others who express their endorsement for PM Modi.

Sardesai addressed the issue on X, stating that a selectively edited portion of their report is being circulated to serve a “political agenda.” He questioned why voices supporting CM Siddaramaiah were not included and raised the question of whether it’s considered acceptable in politics to ignore certain viewpoints.

Thus, we can say that a video edited from Rajdeep Sardesai’s report in Karnataka is gaining traction online with a misleading political narrative.
