The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) Department has taken action against a McDonald’s outlet in Noida Sector 18 and a branch of Theobroma bakery in Sector 104 in response to reports of two customers falling ill after consuming food from these establishments. One customer had fries and a burger at McDonald’s, while the other consumed an allegedly stale pineapple cake from Theobroma.
According to an ANI news agency report, the complaints were lodged through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India’s online Food Safety Connect Portal.

Officials stated that a team from the FSDA in Gautam Buddh Nagar visited the McDonald’s outlet in Noida Sector 18 to collect samples after receiving the complaint. Assistant Commissioner (Food) FDA, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Archana Dheeran, confirmed that samples of palm oil, cheese, and mayonnaise were collected from the outlet.
Dheeran stated, “The customer fell ill after consuming aloo tikki and french fries. We have taken action accordingly,” noting that the sample reports were expected within 15 days to a month.
Regarding the Theobroma bakery incident, Dheeran explained, “We received a complaint that the customer fell ill after consuming a stale pineapple cake ordered from the outlet”. She added, “The complainant also noted that the icing of the cake was sour. We have taken a sample of the cake and sent it to the laboratory for testing.”
If the test reports indicate failure, Dheeran informed, a case will be registered against the accused outlet.
