New Delhi: Assam Police on Monday, made a significant breakthrough in the case involving a doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulating on social media. The first arrest in connection with this incident was made, with Reetom Singh being taken into custody.
The video allegedly circulated by Congress leaders has sparked controversy and prompted swift action from law enforcement. Assam Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Assam police have arrested an individual named Sri Reetom Singh in connection with the fake video involving Honorable Home Minister Sri @AmitShah”
Earlier, the Delhi Police summoned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with Amit Shah’s fake video case, sources said on Monday. The Congress leader has been asked to appear before Delhi Police’s IFSO unit (Cyber Unit) on May 1 with his mobile phone.
The Delhi Police on Sunday registered a case over a doctored video circulating on social media platforms showing Union Home Minister Amit Shah advocating for the abolition of reservation quotas for Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and Other Backward Classes (OBCs).
The video, which has sparked controversy and allegations of misinformation, has prompted the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to file a complaint seeking action against those responsible for it.
