An image of a huge crowd — claiming that people are coming out in support of Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who held a road show for the Aadmi Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates in Gujarat — is doing the rounds on social media.

The above post can be seen here (archive).

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Running the viral image through Reverse Image Search, our team found the same image on Wikimedia Commons, with a description: “Quite the marketplace…This crowd showed up for the Olympic Torch passing through.”

The same image had been shared on Flickr on May 12, 2008, with a title: “Postcard from Guangzhou”. As per its information, this photo was taken by Steve Jurvetson when the crowd gathered for the Olympic Torch passing.

Thus, from the above information, it is clear that an old image from China is being shared with false claims.
