‘Corona Kavach’- Govt’s new location-based COVID-19 tracking app

The COVID-19 cases in the country have sailed past 700 now and the government, health authorities and all the concerned authorities have channeled all the efforts towards curbing the spread of the deadly virus.

The National e-Governance Division of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in association with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has developed a location-based COVID-19-tracking app- Corona Kavach.

Currently in its beta stage, the app is still a work in progress. Essentially, it uses a person’s smartphone data to track their location and alert if they are at risk of being exposed to the novel coronavirus.

“This app is being developed in public interest to give information and capture the outbreak of coronavirus. The data will be used to conduct analysis and provide information about the active COVID-19 cases in India.”, MeitY write in the official app listing.

The ‘Corona Kavach’ is available for download via Google Play Store. It is available in a beta version for Android users and the iOS version is under works.
