Fact Check: Posts Regarding RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Demise Are Fake

A post is being shared on social media with a claim that former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has passed away.

The caption of the post read ,’बेहद दुःखद भारत के महान पूर्व रेल मंत्री एवं बिहार के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री , दबंग छवि के नेता श्री लालू प्रसाद यादव का निधन….#बिहार’

(Translation- The great former Railway Minister of India and former Chief Minister of Bihar, leader of a domineering image, Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav passed away …. # Bihar)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be false.

Firstly, we found a report by The Times Of India dated January 24, 2021, stating that he has been shifted to AIIMS Delhi from due to his ill health from Ranchi.

We also found a report by Jagran dated February 5, 2021, in which it is mentioned that Lalu Prasad Yadav’s health is improving rapidly.
The report mentions that he was examined by several senior doctors, including AIIMS Director Dr Randeep Guleria.
According to doctors, Lalu Prasad Yadav hasn’t shown signs of infection in his body for the last 10 days. Owing to the treatment, his heart condition improved and he has been walking in the ward and started taking food properly, doctors aslo added.
Further, we looked for news reports to check if any media organisation had reported about his demise but could not find anything even remotely close to it.
Hence from the above information, it is clear that the news of Lalu Prasad Yadav passing away is false.
