A screenshot of a national Hindi news channel is being shared online claiming that Uttar Pradesh government has announced a complete lockdown in the state till May 22, 2021. FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be FAKE.

Starting with our investigation, we searched the web for news related to lockdown in UP in 2021. All articles stated that lockdown in the state has been extended till May 17 and NOT May 22.

Taking a cue from this, we did a relevant keyword search and found the original tweet by news channel AAJ TAK. We could not find the viral image attached to this tweet. That means a morphed image in the name of AAJ TAK is being shared spreading fake news about UP lockdown being extended till May 22.

On probing further, we also came across a tweet by Fact Check cell of UP government, dated May 9, in which they have also said that no such order of lockdown till May 22 has been issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. The screenshot being shared on social media is fake.

Thus, it can be concluded that the morphed image of a news channel is being shared with a fake claim that UP government has announced a complete lockdown in the state till May 22.
