Fact Check: Government Is Not Providing Unemployment Allowance of ₹6,000

A post with a link to a website is widely circulated on social media, claiming that the Union Government will provide a monthly allowance of ₹6,000 to unemployed youth.

The text reads: “सरकार ने लिया बड़ा फैसला. बेरोजगार युवाओं को 6,000 रुपये जीवन यापन के लिए हर महीने देगी सरकार. प्रधानमंत्री बेरोजगार भत्ता योजना 2022 के लिए रजिस्ट्रेशन शुरू हो गए हैं, इस योजना के अंतर्गत सभी बेरोजगार युवाओं को जीवन यापन के लिए 6,000 रूपये हर महीने दिए जा रहे हैं. नअभी मोबाइल से नीचे दी गई लिंक से अपना रजिस्टेशन करें” (English translation: The government took a big decision. It will give ₹6,000 to the unemployed youth every month. Registration has started for the Prime Minister’s Unemployed Allowance Scheme 2022. Under this scheme, ₹6000 will be given to all the unemployed youth for their livelihood every month. Now register yourself from  mobile from the link provided below)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be fabricated.

We opened the link and noticed that the domain name was also not .gov, .org or .in. Moreover, the notice on the site said that the page had been deleted or suspended.

We ran a keyword search, but could not find information about any such scheme launched by the government. We also checked the official government website but failed to find any scheme by this name.

A tweet by Press Information Bureau (PIB), dated July 15, 2022, has also clarified that the viral message is false.

Hence, based on the above fact check, it is clear that the viral post is fake.
