FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video, and found it to be misleading.

We notice that towards the end of the video, @LOKAWAZPUNJABI appears on the screen. Running a Google Keyword Search, we found a YouTube channel with the same name. Reading the ‘About’ section of the channel, we got to know that it was created in September 2022, and the content on the channel is entirely fictional and for entertainment purposes.

We also found a video titled: ਥੱਪੜ ਮਾਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ MLA ਆ ਗਿਆ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੜਿੱਕੇ|New Punjabi Short Movie|2023|LOK AWAZ Punjabi, published on January 28, 2023. The video matches exactly with the viral clip.

The description of the video, too, informs that it is a fictional video made for entertainment purposes. It further lists the names of all the actors and other team members behind the camera.

We found a Facebook post on the official channel of Lok Awaz Punjabi published on January 28, 2023. The video in the post is a longer version of the viral clip and the caption of the post clearly states that it is their new Punjabi short film.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video showing an AAP MLA from Punjab getting beaten up by the public is misleading.
