Fact Check: 2019 Clip Of People Dancing On Modi Song In Haryana Falsely Shared As From J&K

Date:

A video, showing people from the Muslim community enjoying and dancing to a song and urging people to vote for PM Modi, is widely circulated on the social media. Many users  claim that it was taken recently in Jammu and Kashmir.

Facebook users have shared the video with the text: “अब तो जम्मू कश्मीर में भी मोदी मोदी गाने पर काश्मीरी झूम रहें हैं, ऐसे ही नहीं विकास बोलता है भाई kashmir Muslim.

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Running the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, our team found the same video uploaded on YouTube, dated March 19, 2019.

Another video of the event, taken from a different angle, shows the event banner in the background identifying the person as Rocky Mittal.

The banner identifies Rahish Khan, MLA from Punhana (Mewat) in Haryana, and pictures  with PM Modi and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar. The poster also reads: ‘Mission’ 2019 and ‘Gud Mandi, Punhana’ in Hindi.

Rocky Mittal has also uploaded the video of the event on his YouTube channel, dated March 18, 2019, with a title: “रॉकी मित्तल के मोदी सॉन्ग पर मुसलमान बोले Once More, Prog Orgn: MLA Rahish Khan” (English Translation: After listening to Rocky Mittal’s Modi song, Muslims said once More, Prog Orgn: MLA Rahish Khan)

Thus, it is clear that the video is old and not from Jammu and Kashmir.
