Asian Games: Parul Chaudhary Wins Silver, Priti Lamba Bags Bronze In 3000m Steeplechase

New Delhi: In a thrilling women’s 3000m steeplechase final at the 19th Asian Games, Parul Chaudhary and Priti Lamba showcased their exceptional talent by securing the silver and bronze medals resectively, while Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi clinched the gold medal.

Parul secured the second-place finish with an impressive timing of 9:27:63, while Priti Lamba clinched the bronze medal, crossing the finish line with a commendable timing of 9:43:32, making it a memorable day for India in track and field competition.

Chaudhary also set a national record with a timing of 8:57:19 during the Los Angeles athletic meet in 2022. Additionally, she is scheduled to compete in the women’s 5000-metre race tomorrow.

Reacting to the double medal win in the 3000m steeplechase, India’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Thakur, applauded their victory and commended the athletes for their relentless grit.

“Huge applause for Parul Chaudhary and Priti Lamba, who showcased exceptional resilience and determination in the grueling Women’s 3000m Steeplechase event to clinch 🥈and🥉respectively at #AsianGames2022 🔥,” Thakur said.

“They displayed relentless grit, unyielding strength, and remarkable strategic prowess to secure these well-deserved medals for our nation. In the challenging race, our daughters continue to shine brightly, adding more laurels to our proud legacy. Your hard work and perseverance are truly awe-inspiring! 🙌,” he added.

As of now, India is in fourth place in the medal standings at the 19th Asian Games, with a total of 58 medals, including 13 gold, 22 silver, and 23 bronze medals in India’s tally.
