Delhi Metro’s WhatsApp-Based Ticketing System Now Available On All Lines

New Delhi: For all the Delhi metro commuters, it’s a big good news. In an effort to make commutation through the metro across Delhi and the NCR region hassle-free, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the expansion of its WhatsApp-based ticketing system across all its lines.

DMRC announced this big news on X (formerly known as Twitter) with a post and wrote, ‘DMRC today announced the expansion of its WhatsApp-based ticketing system. DMRC has now extended this cutting-edge service to cover all lines in the Delhi/NCR, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro in collaboration with Meta & their authorized partner Pelocal Fintech Pvt. Ltd.’

It further added, ‘Passengers can now simply send a message with the text ‘Hi’ to +91 9650855800 on WhatsApp or scan the provided QR code to effortlessly purchase metro tickets using their smartphones across the whole network.’

It also said, ‘The service now extends its reach across 12 metro lines and encompasses 288 metro stations, including Gurugram Rapid Metro line.’

So, now for people travelling on any of the lines of the Delhi Metro including the yellow line, Red line, Blue line, Pink line, Green line, Violet line, Magenta line, Grey line, Orange line and even the Rapid Metro of Gurugram, can easily avail this facility.

DMRC said, ‘With the use of the ticketing service, users can generate up to 6 QR tickets at a single time. The metro tickets can be booked between 6 am to 9 pm for all lines and from 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport line. A convenience fee will be charged for payments made via credit/debit card. However, for payments made through UPI, no fee will be charged.

Further throwing some light on this new announcement, Managing Director of DMRC Vikas Kumar said, ‘Providing metro commuters with the option to purchase metro tickets through a simple chat will significantly enhance their travel experience. WhatsApp is the preferred messaging platform for the majority of Indians, and buying a metro ticket will now be as easy as messaging a friend or family member.’
