SC Rejects Manish Sisodia’s Bail Plea In Liquor Policy Case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the bail plea of Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia concerning alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case. During the proceedings, the Supreme Court also instructed that the trial for this case should be concluded within the next six to eight months. “If the trial proceeds at a slow pace, Sisodia can apply for bail again at a later stage,” said the apex court.

The court noted the preliminary establishment of details related to the transfer of a money trail amounting to Rs 338 crores. In the latest development, the Supreme Court has reserved its judgment on the bail petitions filed by Manish Sisodia in cases concerning irregularities in the liquor policy.

Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, has approached the Supreme Court seeking bail in cases investigated by the CBI and ED concerning purported irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy. His plea challenges the decision of the Delhi High Court, which denied his bail request.

During the proceedings, the court sought to know the anticipated timeline for concluding the trial. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, presenting the Enforcement Directorate and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), suggested that the trial might be completed within a span of 9 to 12 months. The court took note of the considerable amount of evidence, involving 294 witnesses and numerous documents in the case.
