Date:

New Delhi: The Parliamentary Ethics Committee, investigating cash-for-query accusations involving Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, has approved the recommendation for her expulsion from parliament. The committee’s report received a 6:4 split verdict.

Panel chief Vinod Sonkar revealed that six members backed the report on the cash-for-query charge against Moitra, with four members opposing it. He mentioned that the Ethics Committee had drafted a report on the allegations against Moitra.

The report was formulated during a meeting on Thursday, gaining support from six members while four submitted dissent notes. A detailed report will be presented to the Lok Sabha Speaker tomorrow, and any subsequent action will be taken by the Speaker, as stated by Sonkar.

Moitra is being probed by the panel based on allegations that she took bribes to ask questions in Parliament.
