Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a picture of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav is being shared on social media, claiming that it shows them paying tribute to Mukhtar Ansari.
The post reads: “राम मंदिर उद्घाटन समारोह का बहिस्कार किया, मुख्तार अंसारी की कब्र पर फूल चढ़ाने दोनों गए हैं, फिर कहेंगे evm हैक हो गई”

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found the claim to be false.
Running the viral image through Google Reverse Image Search, the NM team found the same image shared in an article by Prokerala in November 2022 with a headline: “Mainpuri: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav with wife Dimple Yadav pays tribute to late Mulayam Singh Yadav.”
We also spotted the same image on the official X account of Akhilesh Yadav, dated November 14, 2022 with a Hindi text: मैनपुरी उपचुनाव में सपा के प्रत्याशी के रूप में दरअसल नेताजी की समाजवादी आस्थाओं का ही नामांकन हो रहा है। जिस प्रकार दलगत राजनीति से ऊपर उठकर सभी दलों के लोगों और जनमानस ने सैफई आकर नेताजी को श्रद्धांजलि दी है, उसका सच्चा परिणाम ये होगा कि सपा प्रत्याशी की ऐतिहासिक जीत होगी। (English translation: In fact, Netaji’s socialist beliefs are being nominated as SP candidate in the Mainpuri by-election.
