With a keyword search, we found another report in The News Minute — an independent digital platform,  dated October 12, 2016, with a title: “What advice will you give if your friend converts to Islam? Second-grade textbook asks.” According to the report, a private Islamic school chain, named Peace International School, had included similar content in their textbooks.

Another article from The News Minute, dated January 4, 2018, and titled “Kerala govt orders closure of controversial Peace School for teaching communal content,” confirms that the Kerala government took action and shut down the school in 2018 for teaching objectionable and communal content to its students.

The Kerala Minister for General Education, V. Sivankutty, also clarifies on a X post that the book in question has not been published by the Kerala government.

“This book is not published by the Kerala Govt’s Education Dept. Merely another endeavor to incite animosity towards the state. Those acquainted with us understand the camaraderie & unity among the Keralites. No room for hatred — precisely why communal agenda fails to take root here,” he wrote.

Thus, it is confirmed that the viral image of textbook with communal content has not been published by the Kerala government, as claimed.
