PM hits out at Congress, terms it ‘hawalabaaz’

Date:

Bhopal: Slamming Congress for disrupting Monsoon Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that almost all parties had agreed that Parliament should function and decisions be taken, but there was one party that never agreed.

“We had hoped Congress would work with us, help the Parliament enforce reforms but the party just doesn’t want to work with us,” he said.

Addressing party workers in Bhopal, PM Modi took a dig at the Congress saying, there was a time when BJP had 2 MPs and the then Congress PM mocked at the BJP repeatedly. But the party, which once had 400 MPs, now has only around 40 elected representatives in the Lok Sabha.

A day after Congress President Sonia Gandhi called Modi a ‘hawabaaz’, the PM hit back at her saying the ‘hawalabaaz’ are putting roadblocks in the country’s growth.

“The ‘hawalabaaz’ are sensing deep trouble and that is why they are trying to create hurdles in Parliament,” the PM said.

Addressing the BJP workers, the PM further said, “India wants to move ahead and is standing firm despite the gloomy global economic scenario. Let’s not lose this opportunity and let Parliament work.”

“This is a government that doesn’t only make statements, but has a roadmap to execute an initiative that is initiated,” PM exhorted.

PM Modi said it is the responsibility of every political group to leave no stone unturned in order to meet public expectations after election victory.

Further criticising the Congress, the prime minister said: “I appeal to those who have been defeated, rejected by people, that in respect of democracy please let the nation move ahead.”
