IOC team calls on Arunachal Chief Secretary

Date:

In a follow up action, a high level team of Indian Oil Corporation led by DGM (LPG) Jayanta Madhav called on Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi.

They held a threadbare discussion on supply position of LPG cylinders when Madhav enlisted steps to improve the supply as assured during the visit of IOC team led by Guwahati-based IOL chief area manager Saurav Chaliah on September 2 last.

Additional supplies from North Guwahati Bottling plant and placement of additional rucks at Kimin Bottling plant have been taken to improve the supply position to entire Arunachal Pradesh, Madhav informed the chief secretary.

The team included Chaliha, Kimin Bottling plant manager Sonam P Khrimey, Dy manager (LPG-S) D Pathak, North Lakhimpur-based LPG sales officer Lila Rajkhowa while state civil supplies secretary Gamli Padu attended the meeting.

The discussion covered linking Aaadhar details to LPG consumers on a priority and status of customers who have given up subsidised cylinders on the appeal of CS.

While assuring all possible support for updating of Aadhar details for state’s LPG consumers, Negi suggested involving media to bring mass awareness about its benefit.

When Chaliha informed that about 8,000 Arunachalees have so far surrendered their subsidised cylinder after the appeal made by the CS, Negi thanked those who have surrendered as it will enable supply of LPG to those living below the poverty line.

Earlier, the IOC launched 5-kg free trade LPG (FTL) cylinder as a pilot project in Arunachal, the first in any North East state capital.

Madhav launched the unique service at Surya Enterprises Naharlagun, Padu launched it at Hornbill Tours & Travels here.

Responding to a question Madhav said the project aimed at hassle free availability of cylinders to the users which would be made available to any intending user against genuine identity proof.

The need for fuel woods has been rising in this Himalayan state, particularly those living above 6,000 feet who without using biomass have been felling trees to meet their requirements for want of any alternative.
