Pak violates ceasefire in Poonch

Srinagar: Pakistan on Monday night violated the ceasefire by resorting to small arms firing on some forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing in Balakote sector of the LoC at our positions at 8 pm using small arms,” Defence Ministry Spokesman Colonel Manish Mehta said.

Indian troops guarding the border retaliated effectively, resulting in exchange of fire. The exchange continued for 10 minutes, he said, adding there was no casualty or injury to anyone due to the firing. However, intermittent firing is still on. 

Further reports are awaited from the area, the official added.
