Dhaka gives permission to NIA for visit

Dhaka: Bangladesh government granted permission to an Indian intelligence unit to visit Dhaka, State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said on Monday.

India’s National Intelligence Agency’s (NIA) anticipated visit comes in the backdrop of Delhi and Dhaka agreeing to share information on Burdwan blast of West Bengal.

“India sought to visit Dhaka and we have already granted them permission,” Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said while talking to reporters at afternoon at his Secretariat office in Dhaka.

“They will visit Dhaka when they see it fit,” he said.

Gowher Rizvi, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s international affairs adviser, said Dhaka was ready to share all information relating to banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) – responsible for the Burdwan blast in Kolkata.

According to media reports November 09 or November 10 was set as the tentative date for the visit. It also said that the Indian delegation would be lead by an officer in the rank of Inspector General of Police.

A Kolkata court on Sunday remanded the key accused of the October 02 Burdwan blast case, that left two dead, in the custody of NIA till November 20.
