Vadodara: About 100 women went on a rampage as they attacked illicit liquor dens in Dharoli and its surrounding areas in Bodeli taluka of the neighbouring Chhota Udaipur district.

Led by Dharoli village sarpanch Dinuben M Thakor, the women, who were armed with sticks, yesterday marched to the liquor dens when their owners were not present, police said.

Talking to reporters at the village today, Thakor said, “We picketed illicit liquor dens in the area and confiscated a huge stock of liquor, which was poured down a gutter.

“We will not allow liquor den owners to operate here and will impose a fine of Rs. 20,000 on whoever is found drunk in the village.”
