J&K govt directs secretaries to ensure employees attendance

Srinagar, Aug 17 (PTI) With normal life remainingparalysed across Kashmir Valley due to widespread protests,the Jammu and Kashmir government today directed theAdministrative Secretaries to ensure full attendance ofemployees besides warning action under rules for absentees. The direction was passed by Chief Secretary B R Sharma whochaired a meeting of Administrative Secretaries here to reviewthe attendance of government employees, an official spokesmansaid. He said Sharma directed the Administrative Secretaries toensure that all employees working in the departments undertheir administrative control including the subordinate officesattend to their duties regularly. The Chief Secretary also instructed that employees, whoremain un-unauthorisedly absent, should be asked toimmediately report to their duties, failing which action aswarranted under rules should be initiated against them, thespokesman said. It was also noted that absence of such employeesparticularly in the educational institutions has beenadversely affecting studies of the children, the spokesmansaid. Kashmir valley is on the boil since July 9 following thekilling of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani. Sixty-three people have been killed and over 8000 othersinjured in the widespread clashes.
