3 injured in building fire, residents get panicky

Kolkata, Aug 20 (PTI) Three persons suffered burnwounds as fire broke out in the first floor of a five-storiedbuilding in central part of the city triggering panic amongthe residents. The Kolkata police and Fire Brigade officials saidthat five fire tenders were immediately pressed into serviceto contain the flames in about two hours. The officials said fire started at a godown, possiblydue to short circuit, and spread to the adjacent area causingpanic among the residents of the building located in Bowbazararea, the central part of the metropolis. The injured were admitted to the state-run CalcuttaMedical College. All the residents were immediately evacuated. A portion of the building was damaged. The extent of damages was yet to be ascertained, thesources officials said. PTI AKB SUSSUS
