Brother rapes, kills minor sister

Kendrapara (Odisha), Aug 20 (PTI) A 21-year-old youthallegedly raped and murdered his minor sister in a villagenear Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, police saidtoday. The youth after allegedly raping his sister on August12 afternoon, hit her on the back of her head with an ironrod, they said. "When she bled to death, the youth allegedly packedher body in a gunny bag and dumped it in a nearby water body,"Inspector of Kujang police station, Bichitranand Samal said. He committed the crime after his parents, who arecontractual labourers at a private construction firm atParadip, left home at Kathakota village in Odisha’s Kendraparadistrict for work, police said. "Finding his younger sister alone at home, the youthtortured her. As there were no houses in the neighbourhood,no one heard her cry for help. He allegedly killed the girl asshe had threatened to make the crime public," Samal said. "After throwing away his sister’s body, the youth toldhis parents that the girl had gone to a friend’s house. Theparents lodged a missing complaint with the police thenext day when the girl did not return home," he added. The police later retrieved the victim’s decomposedbody from near the riverbed. "During investigation the youth was detained and heconfessed his crime during questioning," said Samal. "A case was registered against him under IPC section376 (rape), 302 (murder), 201 (destruction of evidence) andsection 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,"he added.
