Nagaland Assembly ratifies GST

Kohima, Aug 26 (PTI) The Nagaland Legislative Assemblytoday ratified the Goods and Service Tax (GST) ConstitutionAmendment Bill. The bill was endorsed by the House by a voice votefollowing a brief discussion. Introducing the bill, Minister for Parliamentary AffairsKiyanilie Peseyie said the revenue of the state would go up astax evasion would be checked due to transparency andbroadening of tax base. "A purely consuming state like Nagaland will benefit evenmore since GST is based on the destination principle," hesaid, adding, tax administration would improve since most ofthe activity would be online.
