Anti-national elements should be severely dealt with: Ex JK IG

Jammu, Aug 26 (PTI) Anti-national elements fomentingviolence in Jammu and Kashmir should be severely dealt with,former IG of state Farooq Khan, who once spearheadedoperations against militants in the state, today said. Khan, who was recently appointed Administrator ofLakshadweep, expressed confidence in the government’s handlingof the situation. "The way the situation is being dealt, those who arehandling it all are experts…it is being dealt properly," hetold reporters here. "We are ready to talk with the peace-loving people whobelieve in Insaniyat. But anti-national elements should bedealt with the way they should be," said Khan, who was theforce behind setting up of the counter-insurgency force in theValley. On his priorities as the administrator of thestrategically-important Lakshadweep Islands, he said he wouldwork to safeguard the integrity of the country. "My priorities like any other administrator would be thewelfare of the people of the state or the area assigned to meand the details would be known after I reach there. "But, the main aim of any administrator is to work forthe welfare of the people, work for national integrity andsafeguard the national boundaries," he said. PTI TSS AB ARKZMNARK
