Modi Seeks Media Help for Clean India Campaign

Date:

“New Delhi: In his first formal meeting with media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “You have converted your pen into a broom, thus doing a lot of good work of spreading this Swachch Bharat Campaign.” He was addressing the media persons at the BJP headquarters in the national capital. The event, ‘Deepawali Milan’, was also attended by BJP chief Amit Shah, senior Cabinet ministers and other party leaders. As many as 400 invites were sent out for the event.

“I would like to wish Deepavali to all of you present here. I am trying to make best use of my time to interact with all of you and strengthen the ties with media,” said Modi.

Extending his heartiest thanks to the media for its extensive support for Clean India Campaign, “Want to thank the media for support for Clean India campaign,” said the Prime Minister. Media can effect basic change even on issues like Clean India. Many columnists have written for the first time on ‘Safai’ (cleanliness), he added.

Just the Prime Minister wielding a ‘jhadoo’ (broom) won’t do, everyone has to take the broom.

Praising media for its laudable works, Modi said, “We get both information and vision from the media. The country’s media can change the image of a country. A very big example is this nation-wide cleanliness campaign. It is helping the poor by educating them and spreading awareness about the importance of cleanliness in our country.”
