Tomorrowland denies rumours on Goa performance

Date:

Panaji: Belgium-based world’s largest Electronic Music and Dance festival, Tomorrowland, has scotched rumours about its performance in Goa during January next year.

“This brief note is to respect and salute the Indian Tomorrowland fans and media, and to clarify that absolutely no decision has been made as to whether the next expansion of Tomorrowland will take place in India or in any other country in the world,” Debby Wilsmen, the head press officer for the festival, has been quoted saying in a Belgium-based newspaper ‘Het Laatste Nieuws’.

“Tomorrowland is always exploring possibilities and options but in the immediate future, the full focus is on the first Brazilian edition in May 2015, next to the editions in Belgium and USA,” Wilmsen has said.

Goa Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar a fortnight ago had announced the intentions of Tomorrowland organisers to branch out their festival in the beach state during January 2015.

Parulekar was not available for comment but Tourism Ministry sources said the minister had “just expressed the possibility of the festival performing in Goa”.

“The minister had just expressed the possibility. There was nothing finalised. He had made the remarks in a passing reference as to how the state is being sought after as EDM festival destination,” a senior tourism ministry official said.
