Delhi HC gets its first woman Chief Justice

New Delhi: 47 years after its establishment, The Delhi High Court on Monday got its first woman Chief Justice. Justice G Rohini sworn in as the Chief Justice of the court.

An alumni of Osmania University in Hyderabad, Justice Rohini was the senior-most judge of the Andhra Pradesh High court. She is expected to serve for a period of four years.

In February 2014, Collegium of Supreme Court of India, headed by Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam had nominated Rohini as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court.

Rohini was appointed as the judge at Andhra Pradesh High Court in 2001. Earlier, she was involved in legal journalism, as a reporter and executive editor of Andhra Pradesh Law Journals.
